Hump Day Confessions: Nature Edition

Vodka and Soda

I love #HumpDayConfessions because I'm ridiculous about a lot of things and clearly I'm an outdoorsy kinda gal...

1.) I like owls and birds but in a very "from afar" way. I mean, I want them in our yard and I'm a fan of them in general. Or maybe I just think they're cute for home decor purposes, I don't really know, because when actual birds and owls come anywhere close to me. I freak. Recently, I was awake insanely early and went out on our deck to find an owl sitting on the pool railing like no.big.deal. It was a huge freaking deal! I panicked and went back inside to get Matt. I'm the worst.
2.) Apparently I'm terrible at knowing sounds. Yesterday, I was cleaning the floors and began to hear what I thought was bug buzzing around the windows that I just couldn't see.  Whenever I got closer it got louder which drove me insane because that buzzing quickly escalated into hissing and all the sudden I was convinced there was a snake under the table near the windows! Probably a rattlesnake! Or maybe the black snake from under the deck! I didn't know, I just knew there was a freaking snake under the table! When the poor helpless DRAGONFLY flew in front of me and crashed into the window.
3.) I like butterflies in the same way I like birds and owls. Which means when one comes near me I instinctively flinch. I'm on edge until I realize it's just a butterfly, then I feel like an idiot. Same goes for dragonflies, when I'm not mistaking them for terrifying snakes, I'm just wishing they'd stop buzzing so haphazardly close to me!
4.) I'm trying to get into gardening and by that I mean I have a few succulents that aren't dead yet and about 8 herb/vegetable plants in pots on the deck out back. The wrong terracotta pots mind you, I didn't know orchid pots were a thing, but they are and I used them to plant all my herbs/vegetables in. So that happened.
5.) Recently I was swimming in our pool and noticed a spider. Not one that was on the wall that I could smash and not a dead one. No, it was a terribly alive, powerful spider. Small, but powerful! That thing started FREAKING SWIMMING toward me and I was done. I did some matrix like maneuvering out of harms way, right up the stairs and out of the pool. I didn't even bother killing it, I just decided he had won that battle and I was done swimming. It took me about 3 days to get back in the pool.
6.) I went camping once. Hahaha. Just kidding, no I didn't. #SorryNotSorry

  3. Rodents totally creep me out and I think of birds as flying rodents for the most part. Yuck!
